About the role:
We are seeking a highly organised and practical Bioscience Operational Support Scientist to support the smooth operation of our scientific laboratories. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our Bioscientists, ensuring they have the resources they need to carry out scientific research. This role is essential in ensuring equipment readiness, reagent availability, and tissue culture support across multiple Bioscience capabilities.
You will work closely with scientists, our facilities team, and specialist "superusers" to maintain laboratory infrastructure, manage consumables, support audits, and assist with cell culture and project activities.
Please note that this is a full-time onsite position based at our BioCity, Nottingham offices and is a 6-month fixed-term contract.
Role Responsibilities:
Support instrument superusers with routine maintenance, data archiving, specialist stock inventories and hosting service engineers.
Support our Reagent Management Team with reagent stock checks, ordering and storage management.
Tissue culture support including cell line banking, cell shipments, Mycoplasma testing and STR profiling.
Support for cell line audits, cryostore management and laboratory compliance tasks.
Coordination of Pipette maintenance, repairs and servicing.
Support for project closure procedures, including reagent shipments and disposal.
Laboratory, project and compound management support as required.
Compliance to Health and Safety regulations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent experience in a Bioscience-related discipline.
Familiarity with laboratory environments, equipment and standard laboratory practices.
Experience working with tissue culture is highly desirable.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow SOPs and work safely in a regulated environment.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness to manage varied tasks with changing priorities.
