About Sygnature Discovery
At Sygnature Discovery, we create exceptional scientific outcomes. For our customers, who bring life-changing medicines to patients; and for our people, who help make this possible.
We’re 700+ scientists from over 50 countries, working as one across Europe and North America. With no competing internal programs, we offer total confidentiality and commitment.
Over the past 20 years, we’ve earned a track record of real impact: 60+ advanced candidates, 200+ patents filed, 200+ active projects. Over 90% of our customers choose to stay with us – from biotechs racing to clinic to pharma companies that need specialised expertise for targeted challenges.
We are a global leader in ion channel drug discovery, combining advanced electrophysiology platforms with more than 20 years of scientific expertise. Our teams specialise in generating high‑quality recombinant cell lines, developing robust functional assays, and delivering high‑confidence data that accelerates the identification of novel therapeutics.
About the role:
As demand for our ion channel capabilities continues to grow, we are expanding our electrophysiology group and are seeking an experienced scientist to contribute to cutting‑edge discovery programmes.
As an Electrophysiologist, you will play a central role in the design, optimisation, and execution of cell‑based ion channel assays using state‑of‑the‑art automated electrophysiology platforms. You will work across a diverse portfolio of client projects, generating high‑quality functional data and contributing scientific insight that shapes early drug discovery decisions.
Role Responsibilities:
Apply automated patch‑clamp electrophysiology to support assay development, hit validation, and lead optimisation.
Develop, validate, and execute cell‑based ion channel assays using recombinant expression systems.
Contribute to the expansion of the company’s assay portfolio by implementing new technologies and methodologies.
Support day‑to‑day laboratory operations, including cell culture, reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance.
Communicate scientific findings through clear oral presentations and written reports to internal teams and external partners.
Skills & Qualifications:
BSc in Biology or a related life science discipline.
Hands-on experience in ion channel research, ideally using recombinant mammalian cell lines.
Practical knowledge of electrophysiology techniques; experience with automated platforms is highly advantageous.
Understanding of mammalian cell biology, plate based functional assays, liquid handling automation, and pharmacological data analysis.
Experience with two electrode voltage clamp (TEVC) technologies would be highly advantageous
Strong problem-solving skills, scientific curiosity, and the ability to independently deliver complex experimental work while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
